And do you know why this sweet, originally from Belgium, is it called ‘truffle’? Well, because both its shape and its texture are very similar to that of the mushroom that has the same name.

  • 250 gr. chocolate Pure or cover value
  • 125 gr. butter or margarine
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon (soup) of cognac, or any liquor that you like
  • colored paper molds

Tips: for children, you can use some alcohol-free liquor.

1- Put the chocolate bars (in pieces) in a water bath plus the butter, so that they melt.

2- Add the liquor (with or without alcohol) or the cognac. Mix well and let it cool.

3- Separate the yolk from the egg white.

4- Strain the yolk and add it very carefully to the chocolate mixture.

5- Apart, in another bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff.

6- Add the whites to the mixture and mix everything delicately.

7- Take the mixture to the fridge to harden.

8- Form balls, with the help of two spoons or with your hands.

9- Coat the balls, one by one, in the pure and powdered chocolate (sweet or bitter).

We have chosen to present our homemade truffles in these beautiful colored molds to contrast with the intense color of the chocolate, but you can serve them however you like them best. We can also substitute powdered chocolate for chocolate, colored noodles or icing sugar. We recommend that the truffles be kept in the refrigerator until serving.
