Merengada milk is one of the most typical desserts of Spanish gastronomy. It is an easy and quick recipe to prepare and it is an ideal refreshing drink to give to children on the hottest days at snack time or as a dessert.
Being a very simple milk-based drink, meringue milk ice cream is also a recipe for children that can be made in a few minutes. Children are sure to enjoy this delicious and classic combination.
- 400 ml. milk
- 4 egg whites
- 100 gr. of sugar
- 1 lemon
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- Cinnamon powder
Tips: If you want, instead of egg whites, you can use 200 ml. of cream (with 35 percent fat) and mount it like the whites.
1. In a saucepan, put the milk with the lemon peel (when peeling it, be careful not to catch the white part, because it is bitter) and the cinnamon stick, leave over low heat.
2. When it starts to heat up, add the sugar and stir until it dissolves, turn up the heat and when it starts to boil, turn off and remove from the heat.
3. Strain to remove the lemon peel and cinnamon and reserve. Meanwhile, whip the egg whites with a pinch of salt. Add the milk and mix with enveloping movements so that they do not fall.
4. To finish, cool the mixture and pour into the ice cream maker following the instructions. If we do not have an ice cream maker, put it in the freezer in a container that is as flat as possible, and preferably metallic, and stir every half hour for three hours.
